This will be my last posting on this blog.
Well, on this blog, that is, using the TypePad engine. I have used this blog-engine for the last couple of years, but have decided to move over to the WordPress engine after all. Even while I was resisting that at first.
Why?
One of the elements was the compatibility. Writing a blog in TypePad in IE9 became practically impossible. This could defenitely be IE's fault, but still, as a web producer you cannot simply ignore problems on a browser that a large part of your users are using. And to change my preferences of a browser for writing a blog posting, simply did not work for me. So, yes, I am writing this post in my second favorite browser; Chrome.
But, the other reason comes from a whole other perspective... and that is that I recently indeed bought an iPad. There is a lot of wrong about the thing, but the good is, I simply love it. It is just like my love-hate relationship with my iPod Touch, but in the end I have to hand it to Apple... their hardware is simply good (at least on the mobile devices... and not talking about the iPhone 4 of course).
And TypePad has, at least until now, not yet released an iPad compatible editor, while WordPress built a beautiful one. And since the iPad is one of those devices destined to be used for things like blogging... it won hands down.
Am I telling people to switch over? No, absolutely not. I liked using TypePad a lot. I think it is a good blogging engine with some very good features, even some that WordPress does not have. But for me personally, WordPress gets the benefit.
And I am finally done copying all my posts over... so later today, I will be switching around. If you surf to the url blog.dialect-line.com nothing will change...
Good-bye TypePad... until another time.
